Music goes in family. Marion's grandfather and mother have both been musicians.
Marion is Jewish and one of her LP's (Shalom) includes Jewish songs.

Finnish national final 1962: 1st with Tipi-tii and 2nd with Pikku rahastaja (Little conductress)
Eurovision Song Contest 1962: 7th with Tipi-tii
Finnish national final 1967: 7th with Goodbye and 8th with Kesän laulu (Song of summer)
Finnish national final 1969: 6th with Tuntematon sydämeni (My unknown heart)

CAREER IN SHORT

Marion placed second in a Finnish schlager song contest in 1961.
The success gave her a chance to record her first single Brigitte Bardot / Mexico.
Sung Tipi-tii in Eurovision Song Contest placing 7th. In many interviews Marion has told that Tipi-tii is the song she has to thank for all her success. It still is one of her most wished songs.
In the 60's Marion also worked as an estrade artist and actor, acting for instance in Sound of music for Svenska Teatern in Helsinki.
In 1968 won a song festival in Bulgaria.
In 1973 placed 6th in the ESC, the highest ever placing for Finland.
Marion did a lot of recording during the 70's, recording five singles in Germany 1975-79 and one LP (Love is...) in London 1978. After that Marion has settled in Finland.
Won "Syksyn Sävel" ("Tune of Autumn") -schlager festival in 1977 with the song Rakkaus on hellyyttä (Love is affection)
Won Intervision Song Contest 1980 with the song Where is the love
During the 70's and 80's Marion also had numerous TV shows.
In 1995 she had a tour celebrating her 50th anniversary.
Marion, one of the most popular Finnish female singers, is still active. In 2000 she had a tour with Katri Helena, Paula Koivuniemi and Lea Laven, three other popular Finnish female artists. The tour, called Leidit lavalla (Ladies on estrade), was a success.
In 2001 Marion started another tour celebrating her 40 years as an artist.
